Project at a glance

The need
Keep a party game’s questions fresh while controlling content and AI requests.
My contribution
Developed the app, its identity and card generation, with caching and a local fallback.

What was built

  • Web and mobile game
  • Modes and players
  • AI-generated cards
  • Offline mode
  • Visual identity

Public app. In the documented state, credit purchases are not open; no usage figures are claimed.

The problem

A party game lives on its questions: if they repeat or miss the group, the evening dies. Generating them on the fly with AI fixes the content but creates two new problems: a cost on every click, and responsibility for the content depending on the players' age.

The approach

Treat AI as a scarce resource. Questions are generated in batches, then cached: a player’s click does not trigger a call, and the credit is only deducted when a card is consumed. Content depends on the declared age: access from 13, some modes reserved for those aged 17 and over, others for those aged 18 and over. The daily cost is capped on the server, and an offline mode takes over when the AI is unavailable.

The solution

  • A web and mobile app (React and Capacitor) to play with several people on one phone or in a room.
  • Several game modes, including a Classic mode with five intensity levels.
  • Accounts (Google or email), daily credits, referrals.
  • An identity reduced to the essentials: a circle, two rings, the full name, in a light version (cream and amber) and a dark one (black and violet).
  • Tracked AI quality: the requested intensity level is passed to every generation, local fallback cards cover outages.
  • Continuous deployment: the front end on Cloudflare Pages, the API on Railway, monitored database backups.
